EDL-G Energy Audit

EDL-G

acteno creates the foundations for an audit according to DIN EN 16247-1 / certification according to ISO 50001.

With the amendment of the Energy Services Act (EDL-G), all companies with more than 250 employees and an annual turnover of more than EUR 50 million are required to carry out an energy audit according to DIN EN 16247-1 (deadline: 05.12.2015) or alternatively to introduce a certified energy or environmental management system according to ISO 50001 / EMAS. This obligation also applies to affiliated companies.

Perfectly Equipped with acteno

As acteno, we create the foundations for an audit according to DIN EN 16247-1 / certification according to DIN EN ISO 50001.

  • Consolidation of current and historical energy data into the acteno energy performance management (epm) system
  • Continuous recording of energy use at all your sites. Both for transfer metering (acteno smart metering) and, on request, also in sub-distributions (acteno micro metering)
  • Establishment of a standardised reporting system with relevant KPIs for your company

Background

The amendments to the Energy Services Act (EDL-G) decided by the Federal Government are intended to implement a European directive for increasing energy efficiency. On 05 February 2015, the final amendments to the new law were passed by the German Bundestag and came into force on 22.04.2015.

The centrepiece of the revised EDL-G is an energy audit according to DIN EN 16247-1, which companies are required to carry out. These energy audits must then be repeated every four years. Alternatively, a certified energy management system (ISO 50001) or environmental management system (EMAS) would also serve as proof of compliance with the EDL-G requirements.

Exempt from the audit obligation or the introduction of an alternative system are micro-enterprises and small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The EU defines these companies as: companies with fewer than 250 employees, an annual turnover of up to EUR 50 million, or a balance sheet total of up to EUR 43 million – companies that do not fall under the SME definition are, however, obligated in the future.
